Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public personalities offered varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate should have acted when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
