Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin Exits Ireland's Presidential Election Right Away
Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin has declared his withdrawal from the Irish presidential election immediately.
He was set to be one of three candidates standing for Ireland's head of state, alongside Independent TD Catherine Connolly and Fine Gael candidate Heather Humphreys.
However, late Sunday he stated via a statement he had "made a mistake inconsistent with his values and the standards he upholds."
"After weighing these points, I've chosen to exit the election for president right away and go back to my family," he stated in a statement.
Additional details to come.
