Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has three new games officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
